FY1 — 2×22 kW Dual-Outlet AC Charging Controller Board

The FY1 is the control board inside a three-phase dual-outlet AC charging station: 2×22 kW, native OCPP 1.6J over Ethernet and 4G, two Type B residual-current channels and per-outlet temperature monitoring, CE certified under the Low Voltage Directive, the EMC Directive and the Radio Equipment Directive. It is the commercial-site counterpart to the single-phase FJ1, and it is the board to specify when the station has to talk to a management system out of the box.

Three decisions this board forces early

Each of these changes the wiring or the enclosure, so each has to be settled before the first production run rather than after the first field complaint.

Decision 1

PLC module or not

ISO 15118 plug & charge needs powerline communication over the Control Pilot line. That is carried by the optional AC PLC communication module, not by the controller board. Fitting it also moves the platform to OCPP 2.0.1. Because it changes board-to-module wiring and enclosure layout, adding it later is a mechanical change, not a firmware update.

Decision 2

Radio content and RED

The 4G and NFC content is why the RED assessment is in the certificate set alongside LVD and EMC. A build without radio parts carries a different set. Certificates are issued against a specific build, so the certificate list has to be read against the configuration being ordered, not against the model name.

Decision 3

Which side owns load management

Per-outlet current setting on the Control Pilot line, the two Type B residual-current channels and per-outlet temperature monitoring stay on the board — they are measurements and switching actions. Pricing, user identity and cross-site allocation belong to the management system. Drawing that line before integration prevents a second firmware round.

What eectec states, and what it does not

eectec holds no Open Charge Alliance certificate, for OCPP 1.6 or for OCPP 2.0.1. Our charging platform runs OCPP 1.6 in large-scale commercial operation, with OCPP 2.0.1 support in final development — first delivery scheduled for December 2026. Implementing a protocol and holding a certificate for it are two different statements, and only the first one applies here.

The CE certification described above is the board's own. It does not transfer to a finished charging station. Under the EU Blue Guide (2022/C 247/01) the party placing the finished product on the market under its own name is the manufacturer and issues the declaration of conformity for it.

Production background, for scale rather than for the individual order: 15 years in the business, more than 1,000,000 control boards shipped to date, more than 1,500 customers, and a field defect rate of 880 PPM.

Questions we get about this board

Does the FY1 support ISO 15118 plug & charge?

Not in the base configuration. ISO 15118 plug & charge requires powerline communication over the Control Pilot line, which is carried by the optional AC PLC communication module rather than by the controller board itself. Fitting that module upgrades the platform to OCPP 2.0.1 and ISO 15118 plug & charge. Specify it at design stage: it changes the board-to-module wiring and the enclosure layout, so retrofitting it to a finished product is a mechanical change, not a firmware update.

Is the FY1 certified by the Open Charge Alliance for OCPP 1.6J?

No. The board implements OCPP 1.6J and the eectec charging platform runs OCPP 1.6 in large-scale commercial operation, but eectec holds no Open Charge Alliance certificate, for OCPP 1.6 or for OCPP 2.0.1. OCPP certification is issued by an OCA-recognised test laboratory to a named product and firmware version. A brand owner who needs the certificate for a tender has to take the finished station through that process under its own name.

Why two Type B residual-current channels instead of one?

Because the board drives two outlets and each outlet is a separate charging circuit. One residual-current channel per outlet means a fault on one outlet does not take the other one offline, which is the difference between a half-available site and a dead site. Type B detects smooth DC residual current, which is what an EV charging circuit can produce.

What does the RED part of the CE certification cover?

The Radio Equipment Directive applies because the board's configuration includes 4G and NFC. The FY1 is CE certified under LVD, EMC and RED, and certificates are available on request. A configuration without radio parts would not need the RED assessment, which is one reason the certificate set has to be read against the specific build rather than against the model name.

What is the difference between the FY1 and the FJ1?

The FJ1 is a 7 kW single-phase, 32 A board for residential wallboxes with Bluetooth app control and no native backend link. The FY1 is a 2×22 kW three-phase, dual-outlet board for commercial sites with native OCPP 1.6J over Ethernet and 4G. They are different products for different site types, not two performance grades of one product.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time for the FY1?

300 boards for the standard configuration and 1,000 boards for a customised configuration. Production lead time is 45 days after order confirmation. A customised AC board typically takes about three months of development before the first production run.
